ABOUT ME

I employ lean principles to

create sustainable systems,

solve design issues,

and correct poor product

choices with humility.

Hi, I'm Chris Johnson, a designer and producer from Philadelphia. In person, I'd give some convoluted explanation for how I've moved across the country as an Air Force brat; but after living in Philadelphia for 12 years my heart is telling me that it's time to claim the city as my own. I love this town and the people in it. I've seen some of the most extraordinary acts of kindness and grown substantially while calling it my home.

I know this seems cliche, but I love product design! It's natural to look beyond the surface of things to explore what makes good design. I've worked on physical and digital products spanning several industries. They range in mediums but tend to evolve from a skill I'm adopting—production, education, entertainment, sales, banking, and more. I had to work hard and sometimes pivot to keep growing, find new inspiration, and continue learning.

Self-learning many musical instruments was the start of my UX designer journey. Music production is, in many ways, analogous to digital product design. Initially, I wasn't aware of the parallels, but after amassing a long list of random knowledge nuggets, I understood.

My background is in music production; however, I'm currently working on my web app development skills. I employ lean principles to create sustainable systems, solve design issues, and correct poor product choices with humility. Lean is incredibly effective as it establishes cognitive bandwidth for the creative process. I'm the one you come to for solutions to problems you don't want to solve more than once.

Being a designer and facilitator requires adaptation between detail and big-picture thinking. However, a single person can't manage and enjoy everything in the design process alone. My goals are to continue to do extraordinary things with extraordinary people.
